February 27 57 Building a Trusting Relationship with a Nervous Crow
on the podcast
This session of the Behavior Makeover Series deals with a rehabilitated, non-releasable crow that exhibits many avoidance behaviors around its trainer. Instead of counterconditioning or systematic desensitization, non-forced negative reinforcement is used to create a behavioral plan to build crow trust. This works for all species, from parrots to eagles to mammals. As always, follow local and federal laws when dealing with native or exotic species. We will not tolerate the protection of wild birds without proper permits.
