The blind dog, allegedly stolen and taken 300 kilometers from his home on Australia’s Gold Coast, will finally be reunited with his family on July 7.
Bowie, a blind 4-year-old Australian Shepherd owned by a Gold Coast family, reportedly went missing on Wednesday, July 5th.
According to ABC News, Bowie’s owner Luke Durman and his 10-year-old son Leo returned home to find their home ransacked and their car and dog missing.
Fortunately, two days after the incident, Bowie was found safe and sound in Nambucca Heads, NSW, 300 kilometers from his home.
An initial investigation by Queensland police revealed that the group who broke into the Durmans’ home used the Durmans’ car to leave the scene. Queensland Register 021FO8.
Queensland Police have shared CCTV footage of a man at a petrol station in New South Wales. In the video, Bowie can be seen sitting in the passenger seat of the stolen car.
Queensland Police called on the public on July 6 to help find Bowie and bring him home.
“Police are calling on anyone in the northern New South Wales region who has seen or knows of this man, or who may have seen Bowie, to come forward.” Queensland Police wrote in a post:
Finally, on July 7th, Bowie was found after New South Wales State Police stopped a stolen vehicle in Nabukka Heads.

Durman and her son then drove four hours to reunite with their dog soon after. daily mail report.
Speaking to 7NEWS, Durman said: “Once Bowie was gone, the car and everything else didn’t matter.” ”
After returning home, Bowie was examined by a veterinarian and fortunately he was healthy and doing well.
Meanwhile, Cardozo, who was accused of stealing Bowie, has been charged with receiving, disposing of, and possessing more than $15,000 worth of stolen property outside of state. ABC News report.
Queensland Police have confirmed that they will apply for extradition to Queensland once the man’s trial in New South Wales is completed.
