Camille the cat was just skin and bones and was very scared when she arrived, but she never stopped caring for the baby. “Her tail remained wedged between her two hind legs and she rarely moved. As the days passed, Camille found herself safe and worked up the courage to leave the nest and explore new places.

Slowly but surely, the tortoiseshell cat warmed up to her foster parents and became very fond of scratching her face. Thanks to abundant food and a quiet room, Camille relaxed, purred and began to “make biscuits” with happy paws.

As her confidence grew, her personality came out. She came to greet Alison every morning when she came to her room and melted into her hands when she stroked her.

About a week ago, a tiny kitten in a tuxedo arrived to the rescue, but it had a sad beginning. She was found with her mother, who unfortunately did not survive. The kitten was emaciated by flea infestation, had lost a lot of weight and was anemic.

Another rescue volunteer Nadija, took her in and started feeding her every 2-3 hours along with supportive care. She carefully removed all the pesky fleas from her kitty while keeping her kitty’s little body warm and comfortable.

Knowing that the kitten was more likely to meet a nursing mother, they decided to take the kitten to Camille, hoping that she would take in the little orphan.

“Camille welcomed her in, groomed her, and let her breastfeed for nearly another half an hour. It was too sweet for me,” said Nadija.

“After work, my brother Crosby and I would snuggle up in our cozy bed and take a nap. Very small compared to my new siblings, but I can hold myself together. Now called Julia. I have.”

Julia thrives thanks to a mother cat who takes care of her needs. She is getting good results every day and her energy levels are skyrocketing. Camille loves her newborn baby like her own and pours out her affection.

Camille blossomed after weeks of foster care. She now spends a lot of time watching from the sidelines as the kittens hop around the playpen.

She enjoys socializing with people and is no longer shy about being the center of attention.

“She’s still very close to her family. If someone makes a noise, she’ll come right back to them and take care of her,” Allison added.
