Chantal and her family have helped community cats in their neighborhood by providing food and shelter during particularly harsh winters.
One morning, when she was out tending her garden, she discovered something in one of her flower boxes. Stunned, she saw six kittens huddled together in a pile of fur at the bottom of the box.
In a garden near her, I noticed a stray cat standing right there watching her, as if guarding a box.
It turned out that the cat was the mother of the kittens and had come to the yard for safety and food.
Chantal knows the cats in her neighborhood very well and tries to help them whenever she can. Perhaps the mother cat found out about this family and brought her kittens.
The flower box was tall, and the cat probably carried the kittens in one at a time to keep them away from the harsh outdoors.
Wanting to give the mother a safer place to raise her baby, Chantal consulted a local animal welfare organization. chaton au feran montrealand offered to foster him until he was ready for adoption.
She scooped up six pills and brought them home. The next thing to do was get her mother inside.
Because he had been living in the wild for a while, his mother was wary of people and kept a distance from him, but there was nothing mean about his body. Her treats weren’t attractive enough to let her into her room, so Ms. Chantal decided to try something else.
“She came out with one of the kittens in her arms, and her mother immediately approached her and tried to care for the baby,” the rescuer said.
Mr. Chantal patiently guided the cat to the front door and let it into the house. She arranged her room for a family of seven and named her mother Garbet.
As soon as the kittens saw the mother, they huddled in her belly and began nursing. With good food, fresh blankets, and a comfortable bed, Garbet began to open up to his rescuers and seek affection.
“She seemed to understand that Chantal was there to help them.” The whole family gathered again, with a roof over their heads, purring in unison.
Over the next few weeks, Garbet fostered six happy, playful young cats. She taught them cat skills and watched them closely as they passed milestone after milestone.
She became very fond of people and couldn’t get enough of their attention or pets. “She’s affectionate, so she always gets a headbutt.”
“She’s like a cat and a dog, following us wherever we go. She’s very talkative and likes to talk about the day. She’s playful, but still a kitten at heart.”
As the kittens grew independent and flitted around the room on their own, Garbet took the back seat and spent more time with her family. She’s interested in what they do and she thinks she’d like to participate in the activity.
The kittens are now about three months old and ready to spread their wings and fly.
Together they found a forever home. The rest of the family is doing well in a foster care home, and a happy life awaits them.
Garbet took the kittens to the right place and changed their lives as a result.
After surviving on the streets and raising six cubs, she has retired from motherhood and is enjoying her new life as a spoiled indoor cat.
