John Donellas, 37, whose exploration company offers boat tours in Alaska, witnessed a close encounter between a killer whale and an otter. The otter was nearly killed right in front of Dornelus.
While on the boat, Dornelus witnessed a commotion in the water and noticed an otter frantically swimming towards the boat to escape the killer whales. If you get close to an otter, you can see the whale’s dorsal fin. Donellas couldn’t believe his eyes when an otter suddenly emerged from the water and took refuge in a boat.
Donellas expresses disbelief while documenting the incident. He invites the otter to board the boat while the killer whale continues to swim. The otter stays on the boat for a few minutes, then quickly returns to the water and decides to stay on the boat.
