When Genevieve and Stella were at home, they heard a kitten meow outside on the balcony. The barking continued intermittently, but never stopped.
Residents decided to investigate and tracked the sound under their balconies. As I was looking around to find the kitten, I noticed a small hole.
When I looked inside, I saw a small ball of hair, and then I heard a cry.
The kitten was alone in the hole. She was probably born there, but for some reason she was left behind. “They knew the kitten was calling for its mother, who was nowhere to be seen,” said Céline Krom. Chaton Orphelin Montreal Shared with lovenya.
“They waited to see if the mother cat would come back, but after 24 hours the kitten was still alone.”
They decided it was time to step in and rescue the kitten from the narrow hole. “It took several hours, but we were able to rescue him safely.”
At just two weeks old, the kitten was very small and hungry. Her eyes were covered in dirt and she didn’t have enough strength to keep her head up.
Genevieve and Stella put the kitten in a makeshift nest to keep it warm. They got her kitten milk and started feeding her with her syringe.
The kitten was frail and needed around-the-clock care. She wanted to give her her best chance of survival and they enlisted Celine and her team for assistance.
“They contacted us and brought a kitten all the way to Montreal.
Celine grabbed a bundle of fur and locked it inside her cozy, heated nest. She took Kiki everywhere and she adhered to a strict 24/2 feeding schedule.
Celine was cautiously optimistic, and it took each day that Kiki was strong enough to bottle feed on her own. “If her bottle didn’t arrive soon enough, she would make a very cute little meow,” Celine shares.
“She started gaining weight steadily every day. When she was full, she would purr and sleep in her warm bed.”
Keeky turns out to be a big eater and keeps drinking bottles like a champ. Since then, she has grown exponentially and her personality has emerged.
She enjoys being comfortable in her nest, but is beginning to become more active and exploratory.
Kiki loves people and loves to be held by her adoptive mother, babies, and cuddles.
Now that I’m strong enough to run and climb, I’ve discovered many new places to relax and have every pillow I can touch.
Kiki is very attached to her friends and tries to stick with them even when they are in the car. She’s fearless, laid-back, and wants to know all about what supervisor candidate Celine is up to.
She stares at people with her large doe eyes, sometimes opening her mouth slightly to show her baby teeth.
“We were very lucky to find her out at just the right time without her mother,” Celine told Love Meow.
Kiki has thrived in a foster home and is growing into a beautiful and slightly charming leopard kitten.
