A Montreal-based animal rights activist was helping a community cat that ended up in a woman’s backyard when she came across a hungry, pregnant young cat.
The cat went straight into the crate provided by the rescuers, as if ready to be taken off the street to safety.
“She was just a young cat whose stomach was about to burst at the seams. She looked like she was about to give birth,” Celine said. chaton au feline montreal share.
Celine didn’t hesitate to adopt the cat when asked to help a pregnant woman. The cats were placed in comfortable nursery rooms at foster homes, with plenty of food and blankets at their disposal.
I was a little nervous at first, but she was keen on affection and wanted to be petted.
“We named her Bellatrix. She immediately asked her adoptive mother for attention. The first day we got home she purred and had her belly rubbed.”
Not long after settling in the nest, she was ready to give birth. Bellatrix brought 3 healthy gray kittens into the world in 2 hours.
After the babies were cleaned and nestled in their mother’s belly, the foster parents realized something was wrong. The kittens did not grow and some started to lose weight.
I quickly realized Bellatrix had no milk.
“She was a wonderful mother, she kept cleaning her baby and purring, but she had no milk and needed help.”
Volunteers soon began bottle-feeding the trio around the clock. After each meal, Bellatrix cleaned, littered and cared for the kittens as best she could.
“The first few days were very important for the kittens. They were bottle-fed hourly to maximize their chances of survival. That night, a foster volunteer It was a sleepless day for us.”
After a few days, Bellatrix’s milk production started slowly. The kittens fed and nursed their mothers all day long. They soon acquired round bellies and moved around the nest with their newfound energy.
“For the first two weeks of life, their mother didn’t give them enough milk to feed them, but thanks to their foster parents, they were able to grow.”
Over the next few weeks, the trio grew exponentially, crossing many milestones along the way. When weaned, they were ready to cause mayhem around the house and chased each other without rest until they got tired.
“These triplets look alike, but each has their own personality. Runard is the smallest and the most curious. He likes to see what we do, and he follows. .”
“Patmol is more playful than anyone else. He can turn anything into a toy and loves to be the center of attention. His younger brother, Corndru, is the most laid-back and a teddy bear at heart. When he takes a nap. , I’ll be right in” as close to you as possible. ”
Bellatrix officially retires from motherhood. She spends most of her time doing what she loves. Snuggling with her friends and playing like a kitten.
She doesn’t have to go through another pregnancy or worry about food or housing. She is constantly purring and she feels she is loved and her kittens are protected in good hands.
